TestLab Power Electronics, affiliated to Fraunhofer ISE, Germany, is a world-famous research institution for photovoltaic power generation systems. Its main business is to measure and characterize electronic power supply feed units for industrial customers. Its business scope ranges from solar inverters to battery energy storage, and then to cogeneration systems. Voltage drop test, feed review or efficiency test are their typical application scenarios. In the communication with customers, our test engineers discuss their test needs and find customized solutions for them. In order to maintain this smooth communication, our staff must receive professional training and go beyond their own vision.

Research projects to support public utilities will be held regularly in the TestLab laboratory. This complex measurement poses new challenges to our test engineers, which enables them to find creative and unique solutions according to customer requirements.

In November 2017, as part of the research project of "future photovoltaic power plants",   TestLab Three weeks of measurement activities were carried out. For this reason, two transformed megawatt level centralized inverters operate in parallel. The interaction between the megawatt solar simulator and the new multi-function AC/DC simulator ensures the DC power supply of these two large inverters. The control system specially developed for this purpose is helpful to realize equipment grid connection to the public power grid, but it can also form a microgrid system in case of failure. The combination of photovoltaic inverter, cogeneration unit and energy consumption load group creates a micro grid dominated by inverter. Fraunhofer ISE  TestLab The new control device developed can also withstand sudden changes between grid connection and independent operation, such as high and low voltage ride through, grid adaptability test, power control, overload capacity test, rated power energy conversion efficiency test and other projects.
